Little Billie Mine

1880 Outcrop discovered.

1896 First ore shipment (30 tons) reported; adit driven and shaft sunk to 70 feet.

1911 Shaft sunk from 70 to 170 feet.

1912 Continued shaft sinking a short distance.

1913 Mine shutdown.

1916 Mine reopened; 1,222 tons of ore were mined.

1917-1926 Lessees mined small amounts of ore.

1928 Central Copper and Gold Company of Vancouver acquired mine.

1928-1943 Property idle.

1943 Acquired by Industrial Metals Mining Co, Ltd. of Vancouver.

1943-1944 Period spent in dewatering the mine, clean-up work, and in core drilling 76 holes.

1945 (January) Sold to Vananda Mining Company.

1948-1952 Ore concentrated before smelting, and was of lower grade.

1962 Acquired from Vananda Mines (1948) Ltd.

1965 to Feb.1966 Optioned by Bethex Exploration, Ltd., August    27, cleared adit on 80-foot level, and drilled 4 BX core holes (988 feet). Exploration for molybdenum. Recommended discontinuing further work.

1965 to present - Mine idle.

Production: 1897-1916 -  6,000 tons.
                    1948-1952 - 62,000 tons.

1908 to 1919 - Crude ore shipped to the Tacoma Smelter 36,847 Tons
